Professional biography
Passionate about sketching and illustrating, Majken Sander brings a vibrant world of people and locations to life, captures everything from ordinary food to fine cuisine, and botanical elements. Majken leverages her expertise to create visually engaging teaching materials and instructional how-to guides. Drawing from her dynamic presentation skills and background in education, her guides are both informative and visually captivating.
Currently, Majken uses her talents to illustrating children’s books, depicting scenes for the tourism industry, and exploring the therapeutic aspects of art through mindful drawing.
Majken is also an accomplished art educator proficient in teaching classical drawing, painting, watercolour techniques, and various other mediums.
Preferred materials include pen and ink, brush pens, colour pencils, markers, water colour and Procreate as well as Photoshop for the digital side of illustration.
Personal background
Often seen with a pen holding my hair in a bun while my fist holds (more than) a handfull of pens, markers and colour pencils while sketching.
When others stopped drawing in school I carried on – on my notebooks, binders, decorating my schoolbag with graffiti and even ‘decorating’ my desk, much to my teachers regret.
Eventually adult life, education and ‘acting like the rest of the herd’ got to me and I pushed my drawing and painting a side, kept it in drawers but I never stopped stocking up on drawing materials and nurturing the dream of me once again turning to drawing.
As time went by more and more notes from business meetings turned into (very) doodled scriblings. My workshops always had me drawing at the whiteboard and for a period I even made it a point to hand draw all of my slides, when I presented at conferences around the globe, talking about data, business value in analytics and algorithm ethics. Some will even tell you about the little lady bug (illustration) which travelled with me in my power points for quite a while.
Eventually I had to nurture that part of my creative soul more. Honor my creativity by putting my drawings out into the world and let them have a life on their own.

Why the name Riise studios?
My greatly beloved grandmothers birth name was Riise. With the two ‘i’s, making it a bit exotic. She gave up the family name when she got married..
Riise as a name is carried by so few people in Denmark, that in order to carry the name, you either have be born with it, get it from a close family relation or ask everybody who has the name to accept a newcomer 🙂
While I don’t officially carry the name, yet at least, I would hate for it to get lost. Maybe I will even claim it one day. Until then, in honour of my grandmother, I use her name in my business.
And yes, it is a difficult name when it comes to spell checking, domain names, email addresses etc. I know…
